The Children's Palace in
The grand European type appearance of the Children's Palace is still preserved intact till now. It is a scenic construction worth seeing in
One feature of the Children's Palace is that it has the first largest hall without beams in Shanghai. In this hall a large-scale party with the most people attending once held here. In front of the Marble Mansion is a large piece of grassland with evergreen trees all around.
In the flower nursery there planted various flowers. So many flowers, leaves and green grass are in front of the hall, which is another feature of the Children's Palace in Shanghai.
After 50s in the 20th century, here was changed into a garden of training children's intelligence and technique and it became the Children's Palace in Shanghai. Here are various different activities designed for young children, divided into fixed and unfixed study projects. There are dancing, drawing, gymnastics, swimming and so forth. You can often see parents bring their children to take part in different activities, showing soft and sweet intimate relations. This is another feature here.
The main body of the Children's Palace in Shanghai was a private villa of an English merchant in old Shanghai. It was started to build in 1918 and lasted 6 years, so it was completed in 1924. Most of its construction materials are qualified marbles carried from Europe, so it is also called the Marble Mansion.
