Shanghai World Financial Center

The 101-storied Shanghai World Financial Center stands in the heart of Lujiazui Area, next to Jinmao Tower. It is another great venue for international banking and commercial interests. Covered with glass and mental on simple geometric bodies, the tower creates mysterious sight effects. This multi-function skyscraper contains sophisticated offices, super-standard conference facilities, deluxe commercial amenities, a top –grade hotel , and the highest observation deck in the word. Designed by KPF (Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates), this 21^st century office tower symbolizes Shanghai’s status, and a new era unfolding in Asia.

This building’s developer I Japan’s Mori Building Corporation. The consortium funding the project is composed of more than 36 international companies, mainly banking corporations, insurance companies and developers from Japan. The Consortium invested more than US$850 million in the project.

The one hundredth floor, 474 meters from the ground, is a 55-meter-long sightseeing corridor. Higher than the observation deck of Canadian CN Tower, it is the highest so far in the world. Paved with glass floors and surrounded by transparent walls, the sightseeing corridor enables visitorsto enjoy the panoramic view of the city and feel the harmony between man and nature. A rectangular opening at the top of the building represents ‘heaven’ and also reduces wind load on the building.
