Here is a sculpture in the window frame. You could see a plum tree and a crane in the sculpture. It is called “Plum Wives and Crane Sons.”

The sculpture is associated with a poet of the Song Dynasty by the name of Lin Pu. Lin was a talented poet and a nature lover. Unlike his contemporaries who were in pursuit of fame and wealth, he close to live as a hermit in the hills of Hangzhou with whose scenery he fell in love. He built himself a hut and planted plums best. It is said that he grew 360 plum trees, crane as his companion and he treated it as his son. The crane proved to be as helpful as a boy. Lin loved the plum trees and his crane so much that people said about him as “the poet who loves plums as wives and cranes as sons.”

As plums and cranes are symbols of integrity and unearthly virtues in Chinese culture, Lin was viewed as a man of sublime taste. When he died, the emperor conferred an honorary title on him: Mr. Hejing.
