Xujiahui

Xujiahui commercial center is an up-and-coming younger one compared with other commercial streets. As one of the city’s biggest commercial centers, Xujiahui shopping area came into being in 2000 with four landmarks shopping malls such as the Orient Department store, the Pacific Department store, Shanghai No. 6 Department, and Huijin Department Store, which once exhibited a bridal dress with a length of 51.51 meters that breaks the Guinness record of 29.8 meters. Though in business for ten years, all are listed among the top 10 in Shanghai. Now it has developed into a busy shopping area during the past ten years, speeding up its function as a center for trade, business and modern service in the coming years.

The new Xujiahui commercial area has been expanded to 7 square kilometers from 4.5 square kilometers. Extending from Xujiahui Square, the new area stretches to Huahai Road in the north, Yueyang and Fenglin roads in the east, Zhongshan Ring Road in the south and Kaixuan Road in the west.

Apart from the current shopping center, the revamped Xujiahui includes one million square meters of office space to develop its function as a trade and business center.

Xujiahui Overpass blends into the surrounding architectures. Its grey and white hues echo the colors of Huijin Department Store. A transparent glass guardrail on both sides acts as a window to other commuters, and light-guided fiber illuminates the guardrails. Facing upward in the evening when the vibrant light is shining, you feel as if there a rainbow or fantasy bridge in the sky.
