BEIJING, May 1 -- The Shanghai World Expo Coordination has signed building contracts with five companies from Canton, Beijing and Shanghai.

Soundbite: Chen Xianjin, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, said: "We have gone through the process of theme interpretation, concept development and audiovision design. and we have come to the final stage-to start the construction. The contract signing today with the five design teams is a signal."

The Shanghai 2010 world expo is to set up five themed pavilions, namely, "City People,""City Life," "City Planet," "City Future" and "City Footprint." The expo begins May 2010.
