BEIJING , May 24 -- Chongqing in southwest China will build 27 more city squares before 2012, with the city's total number of such squares reaching 45, according to the local urban planning bureau.

The city is now soliciting names, themes and designs for these city squares across the whole nation.

These city squares, each with an area of tens of thousands square meters, include both closed squares surrounded by constructions, and open squares facing rivers or mountains, with a total area of 716,000 square meters.

Among the 27 squares, "Nanbing Leisure Square" will be a tourist attraction for tourists to view the beauty of the city"..

Apart from this, from 2013 to 2017, another 30 city squares with a total area of 874,000 square meters will be built. Till 2017, there will be 76 city squares with a total area of 2003,000 square meters.
