The low season is an ideal time to soak in some popular cultural and historical sites that are overrun with tourists in the busy period. Online travel por tal Zuji recommends two destinations for low- season escapes: Shanghai and Bali.
From its short but rich history to its cutting-edge present, Shanghai is a remarkable city that draws millions of visitors every year.
A top site to check out is the Yuyuan Garden, an oasis of natural charm in the middle of an ultra-urban environment. In peak season, the garden gets 1,000 visitors per day.
Another popular site is the former residence of Sun Yat-sen, the father of modern China. Furnishings are the same as when he stayed here from 1918 to 1924.
And, for a more modern experience, take the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel under the river. It's kind of, well, psychedelic.
Zuji is offering two nights and return flights for two from only HK$1,228 per person (excluding tax and surcharges). The offer runs until the end of June.
Bali is one of Asia's most popular destinations and it's a treat to be there in the low season when you have more elbow room to sample its diverse flora and fauna and its rich heritage. Head to Bali Orchid Garden where you can see thousands of these beautiful flowers.
You can also check out Gunung Kawi, the oldest and largest ancient monument on the island. It consists of 10 rock-cut shrines deep in a lush valley near Tampaksiring. The cool and dense Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is also a big hit with visitors.
Zuji is offering two nights and return flights for two from only HK$2,678 per person until the end of June.
