Special Report: View Tibet with open vision

BEIJING , April 24 (Xinhuanet) -- A photo exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of democratic reforms in Tibet kicked off on Thursday at Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology in Mexico City, capital of Mexico.

Sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, the exhibition will be held in more Mexican universities and colleges.

Political counselor of the embassy Zhao Hongsheng said at the opening ceremony that the photo exhibition is expected to introduce a true Tibet to Mexicans.

He also extended warm welcome to Mexican friends, and hoped more of them would be able to visit Tibet and see the tremendous achievements it had made in social development.

The photo exhibition on the democratic reform in Tibet focuses on the region's history and development since its peaceful liberation in 1951. In vivid pictures, progress of new Tibet is faithfully presented in sharp contrast with the dark and backward old one.

Scholars of the institute said they were delighted that the exhibition was held on their campus, and hoped that they could have more such exhibitions, which will help Mexicans learn more about China and help the institute do a better study of China as well. (Source: China Radio International)
