YANGON, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar Airways International (MAI) will resume its flight services to three destinations of Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur starting from March 29, sources with the MAI said on Friday. MAI, the sole national flag carrier, uses 114-seat Airbus A319 to fly Yangon-Bangkok, 180-seat Airbus A320 to fly Yangon-Singapore and 143-seat Boeing 737-400 to fly Yangon-Kuala Lumpur respectively, the sources said. MAI is a joint venture between the state-run Myanmar Airways and the Region Air of Singapore set up in 1993 for sole international service covering three flight destinations. According to the civil aviation authorities, 12 airlines including the Myanmar international airline and 11 foreign airlines are operating at the Yangon international Airport with about 85 flights per week in total between Yangon and eight destinations, namely Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing via Kunming, Calcutta, Chiang Mai, Chinese Taipei and Doha. The 11 foreign airlines flying Yangon comprise Air China, Thai Airways International, Indian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Silk Air, Malaysian Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Mandarin, Jetstar Asia, Phuket Airline and Thai Air Asia. |
