Under the impact of the Global financial crisis, the number of western tourists traveling around the world shrunk substantially. In the meantime, however, the ratio of Chinese tourists in the international tourism market increased. This has attracted the tourism management departments and the tourism-related enterprises of various nations to flock into some large cities such Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to do business promotion and attract customers.
China, a"widely popular" tourist-exporting country
At the recent opening of the 43rd session of the Berlin Tourism Fair, the organizer announced a report on "World Tourism Trends". It predicted that China's outbound travel will continue to increase in 2009 and China will continue be a "widely popular" tourist-exporting country. According to data published by a Chinese official, China's outbound travel increased 14 percent on last year.
"In recent years, there have been increasing numbers of Chinese tourists who traveled to Egypt. Even under the impact of the Global financial crisis, we are still very optimistic about China's tourism market," Muna, the chief representative of Egypt Blue Sky Tourism Group in Beijing said at the 2009 Guangzhou International Travel Expo.
Not only Muna, but also the tourism management departments and the tourism-related enterprises of countries such as the US, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Chile, and Morocco are optimistic about China's tourism market. In order to exploit China's tourism market, over 200 tourism overseas exhibitors participated in the 2009 Guangzhou International Travel Expo, which accounted for 45 percent of the total.
According to what the South Korean Embassy in China said recently, Chinese people who are registered as permanent residents in Beijing do not need to submit proofs of incumbency or business license when applying for individual tourist visa in the future. The Embassy said that it is impossible for people who are registered as a permanent resident in Beijing illegally stay, and therefore this measure has been implemented. The General Consulates of various parts of China have been informed of this, and it is possible to further expand the scope of implementation on the basis of decisions made by the principal of the Embassy or Consulate.
