After two years of extensive renovation, the Dange'er Old City, located in Huangyuan County, Qinghai Province, is going to formally open its doors to tourists on May 5.
The Dange'er city, which was originally built in the Hongwu Era of the Ming Dynasty, was once an important part of both the Tang-Tibet ancient road and the Southern Silk Road. It is the junction between the agricultural region and the pastoral region, between the Loess Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau as well as being the middle ground to both Han Chinese and Tibetan culture. Relevant departments of Qinghai Province have carried out renovations on this ancient city in order to restore the original look of its historical tea-for-horse transaction market and to display its profound culture.
