As the number of foreigners in Shanghai rapidly increases, German, Spanish, Arabic, French, Korean and Cantonese speaking customers will enjoy more convenient communication services from Shanghai Mobile in the city. The Shanghai subsidiary of China Mobile disclosed on May 4 in Shanghai that besides the English and Japanese services the center currently offers, the company's foreign language call centers will add six new service languages within a year.
As the Shanghai World Expo approaches, the number of technicians, experts and business operators from around the world constructing pavilions for the exposition is also increasing. According to statistics, since the beginning of this year, the two Shanghai Mobile hotlines have received over 40,000 calls from foreign customers, indicating a consistently high market demand.
In response to the prediction that the Shanghai World Expo will attract 70 million people to the city, Shanghai Mobile has promised to spare no effort in developing four types of services to assist customers, involving an easy access to language service, a prompt and convenient customer service system, facilities for the disabled and the option of credit card payment, so as to provide high-quality mobile communication services for both domestic and overseas guests.
According to the information provided, Shanghai Mobile has offered a "World Expo English" service in its 33 service centers in the downtown areas. The number of service centers will exceed 100 by the end of this year, and eventually all service centers in Shanghai will be capable of providing English services.
The Shanghai subsidiary of China Mobile said that easy access communication channels and facilities have already been installed in 31 of its service centers, and within a year they will be available in all of their service centers which can support the changes. This will help to improve the quality of communication services provided to special clients such as the disabled. In addition, work on the company's English language website has started, further broadening the channels available for foreign clients to use these services.
