BEIJING , June 11 -- The number of Taiwan movie and TV producers joining the International Film and TV Market at the 15th Shanghai TV Festival is up 70 percent from last year. Almost 150 companies and over 500 buyers worldwide plan to attend.
Soundbite: Yang Dongliang, vice manager of operations department, DaAi TV "The mainland market is the biggest market for Chinese programs, and it definitely has a bright future."
The Taiwan exhibitors' group has two sections, "Taiwan animation world" and the "Taiwan movies and TV hall".
Soundbite: Cai Yinghuang, member of the operations department, Family Channel: "We hope to cooperate with the mainland to develop the children's market. I'd say the market is pretty large."
Exhibitors said the TV market was undergoing structural changes amid the development of new media.
Soundbite: Yang Dongliang, vice manager of operations department, DaAi TV: "Audiences have more choices like the Internet and mobile phones and less time for TV. Programs must be high quality, easy accessible to youth and have a good strategy. Otherwise, the market can't accommodate them all."
Exhibitors said cross-Straits cultural cooperation could help producers meet market challenges.
Soundbite: Yang Dongliang, vice manager of operations department, DaAi TV: "The Chinese movie market requires cooperation to make really high-quality programs. The event will also have a gala for popular TV presenters where Kevin Tsai and Patty Hou will be on stage with mainland presenters."
