Tibet Autonomous Region of southwestern China has by far reported 2,300-odd sites of cultural heritage and 329 protected units and of which 35 at state level, 112 at regional level and 182 under city or prefecture protection.
Lhasa, capital of Tibet, Xigaze Prefecture and Gyangze County were awarded as Historical Culture City of China while the region's architecture icon Potala Palace was inscribed into world cultural heritage list. Source:China Tibet Information Center
