Tibet Autonomous Region, southwestern China, plans to build the largest wind-solar power station in the Geduo Village of Nagqu Prefecture to help 169 Tibetan people out of 43 households to have access to electricity.
The station is scheduled to start construction in June, 2009 and is expected to be put into operation late August. It has a total capacity of 50 KW and is able to offer electricity for 50 households in one lump sum.
In 2000, the first wind-solar power station was built in Nagqu Prefecture, enabling the rural Tibetans in remote areas to use electricity. Till now, there are seven wind-solar power stations in Tibet, providing electricity for 5,000 farmers and herdsmen.
