The tourism industry in Shannan, Nyingchi and Xigaze prefectures in southwest China's Tibet were booming during the May Day holiday.
The total tourism revenue of Shannan Prefecture in southeastern Tibet amounted to 1.38 million yuan during the three-day holiday which started on May 1, according to the Tourism Bureau of Shannan Prefecture.
The prefecture received 5,000 tourists from May 1 to May 3, said the Tourism Bureau.
Since early April, the tourism industry in the prefecture has been recovering gradually. From January to April, it received 88,085 domestic and foreign visitors, a 29 percent increase year on year. The tourism revenue reached 21.68 million yuan, up 47 percent.
Meanwhile, during the holiday, Nyingchi Prefecture in southeastern Tibet welcomed the largest tourist group from east China's Fujian Province. The group of 97 Fujian natives arrived in Nyingchi on May 2 and toured the prefecture for three days.
This year, Fujian Province is to allocate 500,000 yuan to help Nyingchi's tourism industry. More than 100 travel agencies have organized some 10 tourist groups to Nyingchi.
Moreover, the Xigaze Prefecture in southwestern Tibet was visited by 8,250 tourists during the three days, with the tourism income hitting 4.02 million yuan, up 422 percent.
