Last month's devastating earthquake severely damaged historic sites and other tourist sites in Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality. And local authorities are working hard to revive the area's tourism industry as soon as possible.

Sichuan 's tourism industry posted a more than 50 billion yuan loss due to the quake. Although most of the province's scenic spots, including Jiuzhaigou and Mt. Emei, were only slightly affected. Chongqing says all of its scenic sights are in good condition.

And the city's tourism bureau said the 13th Three Gorges International Tourism Festival will kick off at the end of this month in Wushan city, right on schedule. Meanwhile, Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province, had fully opened 65 scenic spots in time for this past weekend's Dragon Boat Festival.
